Explore a captivating digital playground in this tantalizing puzzle game! Children manipulate gears, chains, rods, and pulleys, to pull themselves through each level, which teaches them how different mechanisms affect one another when constructing a machine. Each reasoning challenge was carefully designed to adhere to the theories of educational technology pioneer, mathematician, computer scientist, and designer of the first programming language for children, Seymour Papert.

As a child, Papert fell in love with gears. Their movement fascinated him in every way and inspired his career. Crazy Gears was conceived not only as a tribute to him, but with the hope of providing a child with the inspiration to discover and understand the physical properties of mechanisms found in their everyday lives. Such complex notions include tension, motion, and gravity. We achieve this by encouraging the child to manipulate the objects in each level to determine how they work together to accomplish a goal. Crazy Gears app good for

I was really looking forward to the release of Crazy Gears and have not been disappointed. The game is beautifully designed and highly addictive– even for adults!

This game is so awesome! The graphics are great and there is a nice flow between the levels. Be sure to check out the parent and teacher handbook on the dashboard; it is very detailed and helpful.

My 5 year old simply adores this app so far. The graphics are absolutely stunning and I love that he’s learning science concepts while playing the game.

I love the way we can pull levels over and over. My 6 yo. boy dont want to stop playing, he says hes having too much fun! Good job :)

We spend such an interesting time my daughter and I discovering this game. She got into it very quickly and even i thought it would be too hard at one point, she surprised me by taking her time and doing it right. Thank you for making great games!!

Very fun but I finished it in less than an hour. Would like some more levels to keep me playing for more the thirty minutes, other than that close to perfect!

Some bad moments

This is a great app, however the June 10 update now causes it to crash on my iPad Air 2. Please fix and I will give this app 5 ⭐️.

I cant praise this app enough! My daughters love it! Its a great game for any young one in your life who enjoys making and creating.

This game is a very well thought out effort with nice graphic and sound design. My kids love it.

Ok so I just got this game for my 6 year old and he played it for about 15 mins. And got to the end.... This is it?! Really?!

Wonderful app and fabulous parent handbook with details about the various components used and info about one of their inspirations - Seymour Papert - key creator of the Lego programming language for kids, LEGO mindstorms and more. I cant wait to read some of the resources about his work that were highlighted!

The Crazy Gears app for iPad and iPhone is just outstanding in its simplicity and its ability to introduce young children to simple machines and mechanical motion. Simple elements in gears, chains, connecting rods, racks, and pulleys can be pushed around the screen in such a way to meet the challenge to "pull the shade" to reveal the next puzzle. You can almost feel the torque on screen as kids learn that gears need to fit together, or mesh, just right to get the most out of them. Later puzzles help the player understand that there may be multiple ways of doing the same job. Even the youngest player can realize that a train of gears can be used to bridge a gap or to get the gear at the end of the line to turn in the direction needed. This is great fun for all ages and even those younger than the target age range of 6-8. Dont miss the handbook in the grown-ups corner for some good materials for teachers and parents that explain some of the concepts and vocabulary. Leaving off one star because we want more puzzles!
